Walk the Moon have been perennial favorites on Myxem since the self-release of their infectious electro-pop masterpiece I Want! I Want!. At Bonnaroo, I made it a special point to catch their high energy set. Any chance to see them live, from heretofore, is a chance I will gladly accept. So when you combine Walk the Moon with soul/indie pop powerhouse Fitz and The Tantrums, you have a set made of solid gold. On November 4th, that's exactly what's happening: Fitz and The Tantrums w/Walk the Moon at the legendary Chapel Hill, NC haunt Cat's Cradle.

Fitz and The Tantrums enjoyed a relatively short incubation time, going from Michael Fitzpatrick composing a single song "Breakin' The Chains of Love" on an freshly purchased electric organ to full band to #1 on the Billboard Top Heatseeker's chart. Having toured with Maroon 5, ska darlings The Specials, Flogging Molly and being personally invited to Daryl Hall's upstate New York house for an episode of Live from Daryl's House, Fitz and The Tantrums have experienced a well deserved explosion in popularity. They deftly combined Motown-esque soul and attitude with an indelible mastery of indie-pop sensibilities into a dynamic, vivacious swirl of organ, saxophone and (of course) Fitz's classic soul vocals.

Combining Fitz and The Tantrum's high octane, soul-inspired indie pop with the power-electro-pop of Walk the Moon is a guarantee of a great time. The two, I imagine, will provide exciting counterpoints to one another. For Walk the Moon's screaming synthesizer, Fitz and the Tantrums will bring an equal amount of saxophone; for Fitz's powerful, soulful voice, Walk the Moon will bring shout along choruses. Both, however, will have the volume and the energy cranked to 11. Click here for ticket information and I'll see you there.
