Tonight: Beavis and Butt-head Return

Tonight, a challenger returns to take a swipe at FX's Thursday comedy domination. The inept, undereducated Beavis and Butt-head, after being off the air for more than a decade, return tonight to MTV. From the information available, it seems that this is not cheap gimmickry; the "reboot" phenomenon can't touch something as classic as Beavis and Butt-head. No, this is genuine hilarity, with Mike Judge as creative and hilarious as he was for the first run of the series, as well as his other projects, Office Space, King of the Hill, and Extract (among others).


In 22 minutes this evening, "Werewolves of Highland" and "Crying" will air. "Werewolves of Highland," according to available information, will be our intrepid duo's lambasting of the Twilight saga and its unreasonable effect on pop-culture at large. The latter episode, "Crying," finds Beavis unable to live down a few tears he shed during a viewing of The Bachelor. Be sure to watch! Thurs 10/27 @ 10pm on MTV. Videos after the jump.

Finally: some news worth reporting. After years of pre-production, followed by years of no-production and various confirmations and swift denials, it finally came directly from the horse's mouth that Arrested Development will indeed be made into a film. The exciting bonus, that I certainly didn't expect, was the announcement of a 9-10 episode "mini-season" that will catch up with the Bluths some years after the events depicted in the Emmy-award winning series.

At an event held at the New Yorker Festival, Mitchell Hurwitz (the show's creator) said, "I have been working on the screenplay for a long time and found that as time went by, there was so much more to the story. In fact, where everyone’s been for five years became a big part of the story. So in working on the screenplay, I found even if I just gave five minutes per character to that back story, we were halfway through the movie before the characters got together," speaking of the future Arrested Development film. He later went on to say that, "We’re basically hoping to do nine or 10 episodes, with almost one character per episode [as a lead up to the film]," and all social networks were bombarded with the palable excitement of the program's dedicated fanbase.

Television: AMC Releases Teaser for Season 4 of Breaking Bad

In case you'd forgotten, Breaking Bad is one of the greatest cable television dramas in the history of the medium and it is returning to your living room on July 17th. AMC figured they'd remind you of the drama and excitement that you'd been missing in this far-too-long interim between seasons by releasing a teaser trailer. Though there is no new footage from the season, this is a nice minute long reminder of the ways the previous three seasons have chronicled the fall of Walter White, the meek science teacher, and the rise of Heisenberg, the sociopath meth dealer. Myxem will spend the remaining weeks between now and the new season glued to AMC's website for any new developments, and also do season and important episode recaps. Twitter strikes again as Representative Anthony Weiner of New York announced today, after many days of "dicking around" (I'll be here all day) that the alleged weiner picture sent over Twitter was in fact Weiner's weiner.  If you've been following this story then it comes as no surprise, Weiner has been dancing around the topic of whether it's actually his penis or not for a while, he even told ABC News last week that his Twitter was hacked as a prank when asked as whether or not it was him in the picture.  In a press conference today though Anthony Weiner stated that "The picture was of me, and I sent it."

The news comes after ABC News was preparing to release an interview with a 26-year old woman from Texas with whom Weiner was sexting.  The woman threatened to expose that Weiner had been sexting her for over a month.  To make it even better, it started through a Facebook comment where she called Weiner "hottttt" on one of his speech videos (yes, a speech video).  So not only does Anthony Weiner send dick-pics through Twitter, but he starts the game spitting process with Facebook.  It's pretty hilarious reading the messages sent from a US Representative though, especially ones that include him with his cats and a message of "me and the pussys".  God bless the internet.

But surprise surprise, a politician lied about doing something shady, so lets all just take a minute to stop and reflect on this situation.  Though we found out that we've got yet another dishonest man in our government, we also got to see major news networks make dick jokes for the better part of a week.  Fair trade.

Boardwalk Empire Season Two Behind-The-Scenes Trailer Released

HBO’s Boardwalk Empire, set in the world of Prohibition-Era Atlantic City was last year’s breakout success. After taking home a fistful of awards, from a Writers Guild nod for Writing in a New Series to Steve Buscemi’s Best Actor Golden Globe, the news of a renewal for a second season was not really news. Anyone who had seen this magnificent period drama revolving around Buscemi and crew’s vice-and-corruption style political machine knew that this would be the next big thing from HBO, who desperately needed a crime drama to fill the gaping hole left by the Sopranos. Aided by screenplays from Terence Winter, the Emmy Award-winning screenwriter from the aforementioned Sopranos, and a pilot directed by none other than Martin Scorsese himself, the show started with a bang and kept getting louder. Recently, HBO released a 2-minute-or-so glimpse into the behind-the-scenes work going on for Season 2. Via voiceover, they explain the plotlines they intend to follow while showing clips of dailies and some brief, dramatic dialogue from a few of the episodes. See the video below:

Media News: Dragon Tattoo, Don't Be Afraid Drop Trailers

So, word on the street is that the Americanized Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, starring Daniel Craig, had a red-band trailer leak earlier today. I finally hunted down a YouTube copy and immediately became at least twice as excited for the movie as I was. I said I'd never support Americanized versions of anything after a string of real hack-job remakes, but Let Me In totally changed my mind about that. This trailer took it a step further and not only can I support Americanizing movies, I can now enthusiastically endorse them.
